SHIRE PRODUCES TOP BUDGET The Shire of Ashburton has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence for its 1998/99 Municipal Budget. Certificates of Excellence were awarded to five local governments who achieved a rating of above 94%. Local Government Minister, Mr Paul Omodei said the Department of Local Government assessed 144 budgets for their level of compliance with legislative requirements, general presentation and provision of information to the reader. "The achievement of the Shire of Ashburton in winning this award is all the more meritorious due to the increase in standard of the budgets submitted and reviewed this year," said Mr Omodei.
