ONSLOW AERODROME UPGRADE TO BE CONSIDERED IN BUDGET The Shire of Ashburton is to set aside funds in its 1998/99 budget for the lighting, reforming and resurfacing of the primary runway (01/19) at the Onslow Aerodrome. At its April Meeting the Council determined to seek contributions from the current regular users of the Onslow Aerodrome towards the installation of Pilot Actuated Lighting. In addition the Council will make immediate application to the Remote Aerodrome Development Scheme fund for a contribution towards the installation of Pilot Actuated Lighting at the resurfacing and reforming the primary runway at the Onslow Aerodrome. The Council will also make immediate application to the Department of Transport and MRWA to site an emergency landing strip at an appropriate location on the Onslow Access Road. "Consultants will be engaged to carry out an assessment of the longer term requirements for aircraft landing facilities in Onslow and a suitable sum of money will be referred to the Councils 1998/99 budget for that purpose," said Mr Carey. For further information please contact Councils Manager Operations West, Mr Len Welch on (08) 9189 1029.
