NEW COUNCIL POLICIES

At its meeting held on Tuesday, 20 April 1999 Council adopted or amended the following policies:

TD018: Advertising Signs

The purpose of this policy is to provide guidelines for the type and number of advertising signs that will be permitted on private land within the Municipality. The Policy also aims to clarify when applications to Council must be made and when they require the approval of other authorities.

C016: Councillors/Staff Accommodation, Travel and Incidental Expenses Whilst on Council Business

Councillors, Staff and other authorised persons are required from time to time, to travel away from home and to incur expenses associated with accommodation, meals, refreshments, travel and other incidental expenses whilst conducting business on behalf of the Council.

The objectives of this policy are:

To make clear the Council’s responsibilities to meet accommodation, travel and incidental expenses of Councillors, Staff and other authorised persons whilst on legitimate and approved Council business.

To ensure the funds of the Council are properly used and accounted for by representatives of the Shire when they incur expenses on behalf of the Council whilst on legitimate and approved Council business.

To ensure that representatives of the Shire who are attending to legitimate and approved business on behalf of the Council are not financially disadvantaged as a result of attending to that business.

C022: Procedure for the Conduct of Public Question Time and Deputations

The purpose of this policy is to outline the procedure for the conduct of public question time and deputations at Ordinary and Special Meetings of Council and to any committee that is open to the public.

This policy is governed by clause 21 of the Local Law Relating to the Conduct of Proceedings and the Business of Council – Standing Orders.

C023: Order of Business - Ordinary Council Meeting

The purpose of this policy is to outline the Order of Business at Ordinary Meetings of Council as determined by clause 18 of the Local Law Relating to the Conduct of Proceedings and the Business of Council – Standing Orders.
