Objective:
To appoint the Councillors who will be cemetery trustees.
Policy:
The Shire President, Deputy President and Councillors representative of
the particular Ward in which any cemetery is located will be Trustees of that particular
cemetery.

Title: Purchase of Assets for Use in Council Buildings

Objective:
To outline what will happen to any property that is acquired for a
particular community group if that group ceases to exist.
Policy:
Where local organisations, groups, etc, approach Council to acquire
specific items of equipment for use in Shire properties, that will be acquired on the
understanding that if the organisation or group becomes defunct, the asset will be left in
the control of the Council for benefit and use by other organisations and/or groups in the
future.

Title: Flying Of Flags Council Buildings

Objective:
To detail the Councils requirements for how, when and what flags
will be flown on Councils administration buildings during working hours and on
special occasions.
Policy:
The Australian National Flag will be flown at all Shire administration
buildings during normal working hours on normal working days, subject only to the rules
for national commemoration and half-masting for mourning.
Where Council provides a second flag pole, the Shire of Ashburton flag
shall be flown in accompaniment of the Australian National Flag.
The National, State or other flags shall be flown on special occasions
at the discretion of the Shire President or Chief Executive Officer.

Title: Consumption of Alcohol Public Reserves

Objective:
To describe the conditions to be observed in regard to the consumption
of alcohol on public reserves within the Shire.
Policy:
Members of the public and organisations who wish to consume or sell
alcohol on public reserves within the Shire are to observe the following conditions:
1. An application for the consumption of alcohol must be made to the
Council at least five days prior to the event date.
2. Alcohol can only be consumed during the following times but is not
to exceed six hours in any one day:
Monday - Thursday 11.00am to 10.00pm
Friday and Saturday 11.00am to 12.00 midnight
Sunday 11.00am to 9.00pm
3. Any extension or variation to these hours requires the written
approval of the Chief Executive Officer after consultation with the Officer in Charge of
Police in each town.
All glass beverage containers are prohibited. (Cans or plastic cups ONLY
permitted.)
5. Consumption of liquor outside the defined area at the recreation
facility contravenes the Liquor Licensing Act and offenders will be prosecuted

Title: Borrowing of Rare and Expensive Library Books

To protect expensive and rare books held at the Councils
libraries.
Policy:
The borrowing of any rare and expensive library books, that are
determined as such by the Librarian, is not permitted at Councils libraries.

Title: Citizenship Ceremonies

Objective:
To outline how many people a citizenship candidate can invite.
Policy:
Candidates for citizenship may invite up to three family members or
friends, or more than 3 if the family group is of greater number.
The candidate is required to advise Administration before the ceremony
of the number of people who will be attending with them.
