THE SHIRE

The Shire of Ashburton covers 105,647 square kilometres and includes the towns of Tom Price, Paraburdoo, Onslow and Pannawonica. The Shire employs 100 staff, has a population of 7,300 and an annual budget of $8.6 million. Within the Shire’s vast area are the spectacular Karijini, Chichester and Millstream national parks, famous for their unique gorges, rivers, flora and fauna. Paraburdoo is situated 1,538 kilometres north of Perth (sealed roads). It offers a diverse range of sporting and social activities as well as education to Year 10, TAFE, hospital, medical services etc. Qantas provides a twice-a-day flight service between Perth and Paraburdoo.

THE VACANCY

The successful applicant will be experienced in road construction and maintenance work, the operation of road plant (loaders, rollers, trucks and small equipment) and will be required to work a rotating roster (11 days on, 4 days off – 10 days on, 3 days off). Persons with grader operating experience will be highly regarded.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Wages as per Municipal Employees Award 1982, Level 4, $23,322 pa, plus regular overtime, generous superannuation benefits and a location allowance. Subsidised accommodation and utilities, and relocation assistance will be provided in accordance with Council policies.
